The News Minute| December 19, 2014| 8.00 pm IST A woman who was admitted in a general hospital in Kottayam district for delivery has been identified as not pregnant by a doctor, at the last moment. The relatives of the woman have reportedly claimed that the same doctor had confirmed her pregnancy 6 months ago and she had showed all the symptoms. According to a Mathrubhumi report, the hospital Superintendent has claimed that it was a case of pseudopregnancy, where water and fat accumulate in the stomach, and since the patient had missed the timely checkups, they did not identify it. However the relatives of the woman have reportedly started protesting against the hospital and claims that it was a case of medical negligence and showed inefficiency of the doctor. According to the report the woman’s husband alleges that they had visited the doctor regularly and the doctor had prescribed medicines taken during pregnancy. He has also told the media that the same doctor had confirmed the pregnancy at the third month after a scan. The relatives have said that the woman was admitted in hospital for delivery on Wednesday.
