Actor Jayam Ravi’s next big release is Adanga Maru, due to hit the screens on December 21. The film, directed by debutant Karthik Thangavel, marks the return of Ravi in khaki as he will be seen playing a hot-headed cop.

In a recent press meet, Ravi opened up on the project and described it as a very relevant film. “I felt that Adanga Maru is a film borne out of the necessity of the hour, and that is why I felt that it should be seen by a wider audience. While many have the gift of the gab to take to voice out their anger to societal issues, I have the gift of cinema to vent out mine. This is why I choose such subjects and I will continue doing so in the future,” Ravi was quoted by New Indian Express.

Adanga Maru also stars Raashi Khanna and she praised Karthik for the way he has portrayed women in the film, which also features Muniskanth, Sampath Raj and Azhagam Perumal in crucial roles. Speaking on the occasion, director Karthik described the film as a racy techno cop thriller. He also said that the first draft of the film was quite violent and that it was Ravi who advised him to tone down the violence to ensure the film reaches a wider audience.

Currently shooting for Komaali, which also stars Kajal Aggarwal; Ravi has taken a break to promote Adanga Maru. Tipped to be a school-based comedy, the film is being directed by Pradeep Ranganathan.

Ravi is believed to have shed 20 kg for his role in the movie, which also stars KS Ravi Kumar, Samyuktha Hegde and Yogi Babu in key roles. Ravi will also reunite with his brother Mohan Raja next year for a sequel to Thani Oruvan.
