K V Anand and Suriya are coming together for the third time after Ayan and Maattrraan for a movie titled Kaappaan.
Kaappaan, which will be Suriya’s 37th film, has the veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal, Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. And as a latest addition to the star cast, actress Poorna has bagged a pivotal role in the film. The actress has already started shooting for her portions in Chennai where the shooting is currently happening.
The film marks the comeback of Mohanlal in Tamil cinema after Vijay-starrer Jilla, which released in 2014. It’s worth mentioning that the film will launch Munnabhai MBBS actor Boman Irani in Tamil and this film will also be Sirish’s second straight film in Tamil after his debut film Gouravam.
Mohanlal recently completed shooting his portions for the film in Chennai schedule. With the film is almost nearing completion, the entire shoot will be wrapped by the mid of March and will hit screens on 15th of August. In the film, Mohanlal plays the Indian Prime Minister and Suriya is said to be playing a high-ranking security officer. Best known for his writing collaboration with SuBa in his films so far, Anand for the first time will be working with novelist Pattukotai Prabhakar on the film’s script and screenplay and Anand clarified the film is not based on one of the novels of Prabhakar.
Composer Harris Jayaraj will be handling the music department with Anthony in charge of editing and Abhinandan Ramanujam cranking the camera. Bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions, the film is touted to be the costliest project in Suriya’s career.
