Last seen playing a local ruffian in Maari 2, Dhanush will be seen playing a daily wage labourer in Asuran, his next with director Vetri Maaran.

Asuran also will mark the debut of the Malayalam actor Manju Warrier in Tamil. She will be seen playing a pivotal role in the film. Besides Manju Warrier, the star cast of this film also includes veteran actor Pasupathi. Dhanush and Pasupathi had shared the screen space in Sullan in the year 2004 and are teaming up for a movie after almost 15 years now.

The technical crew of Asuran includes GV Prakash Kumar for music, Velraj for cinematography and Vivek Harshan for editing. The film is being bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Dhanu under his banner V Creations.

The star cast also has director Balaji Shaktivel best known for directing Bharath and Sandhya starrer Kadhal. Recently, the makers signed actor Karunas’s son Ken Karunas for a key role in the film.

Asuran is reportedly adapted from a novel called 'Vekkai' by Tamil writer Poomani. Though the project was announced several months ago, the shooting only began last month on Republic Day, January 26, and is progressing at a brisk pace.

It may be mentioned here that director Vetri Maaran made his debut with the Dhanush starrer Polladhavan and went on to direct him in Aadukalam which fetched the team six National Awards including the Best Director for Vettrimaran and Best Actor for Dhanush. They also worked together in Vada Chennai which fetched them rave reviews.

Dhanush had produced Vetri Maaran’s Visaranai under his Wunderbar Films and the film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. The duo’s Vada Chennai, which released last year, was a grand success as well. With a good track record backing them, fans are waiting eagerly for more news on Asuran.
