The third season of the Tamil edition of the reality show Bigg Boss is gaining more attention - for good and bad reasons - as the days pass.  In the fifth week, actor and model Meera Mithun got evicted from the house.

The show was launched with 15 participants and Meera Mithun, a Chennai based model and actor, entered the house later as a wild card entry. The Miss South India 2016 title winner made her film debut with the crime thriller 8 Thottakkal and was also seen in the Suriya starrer Thaanaa Serndha Koottam directed by Vignesh Shivn, in which she played the wife of actor Kalaiyarasan, Suriya’s friend in the film.

Meera was considered to be an trouble-maker in the house since she didn’t get along with the fellow contestants. Meera, Sakshi and Abhirami knew each other even before getting into the Bigg Boss house, which sparked some spats among them. Later, Cheran advised them to avoid differences and welcome Meera into the family and resolve the issues.

In the fifth week, all hell broke loose with Meera and Cheran having a fight over the luxury budget task. Meera accused Cheran of "manhandling" her and using "harsh physical violence" during a particular task. Later during the weekend show, Kamal Hassan took it up and enquired with Meera and Cheran. Meera continued to stand by her view and said she didn’t feel good about the way in which Cheran had behaved.

Later, Kamal played a short film of the incident in which Cheran was found innocent and all the female housemates came in support of him. Kamal advised Meera that when false accusations are made frequently, the real accusations may lose they value and go unheard.

Meanwhile, another controversy broke out after Kamal Haasan talked about bus travel. He said that often, people fall on each other in the bus without bad intentions but added that there are some men who get into the bus to grope women. When he said this, contestant Saravanan interrupted him and said that he has done so. "It was long back, when I was in college," he said. Kamal did not take his statement seriously.

Singer Chinmayi took to Twitter and condemned what was shown. She tweeted saying, "A Tamil channel aired a man proudly proclaiming he used the Public Bus Transport system to molest/grope women - to cheers from the audience. And this is a joke. To the audience. To the women clapping. To the molester. Damn."

Several others too condemned what happened.

To select the captain of the house, a buzzer to buzzer task was held between Tharshan Thiyagarajah, Meera and Mugen Rao. Tharshan won the task and he became the captain for the sixth week.
