Last seen playing a farmer in this year’s runaway hit Kadaikutty Singam, Karthi is currently working on a mega action adventure Dev, which is being directed by debutant Rajath Ravishankar.

The team is all set to shoot its next schedule in Nepal in locations in and around Mt Everest. According to reliable sources, a major stunt sequence will be shot in this schedule and the makers are spending lavishly on this particular sequence. The project marks Karthi’s reunion with his Theeran co-star Rakul Preet Singh.

Dev is being bankrolled by Prince Pictures and Reliance Entertainment. Actors such as Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Amrutha and RJ Vignesh are playing pivotal roles. Veteran actor Karthik, last seen in Mr Chandramouli, will be seen playing a cameo. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to compose music. The film is believed to be made on a budget of Rs 55 crore.

The team recently shot for a song in Pune. In September, the film’s crew got stranded in Manali, due to the landslides and flash floods. About the incident, Karthi had said in a statement: “We actually had to shoot particular scenes in the ambience of rainfalls or snowfalls. Apparently, things were perfect with gentle rains and even the weather forecast didn’t have an alarming situation, which was until yesterday. But situation got worsened with unceasing landslides and floods, where the huge rocks started rolling down the hills and hampering the vehicular traffic and movement. I was stranded inside the car for nearly 4-5 hours and was later insisted to stay in a nearby village for safety purpose. What’s more deplorable is that 140 members are being isolated there without any communication at the mountain top (sic).”
