Tammannah, who had played a pivotal role in Baahubali, said that working in a period flick is very challenging but she just could not resist the role that was offered in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, a biopic on the legendary freedom fighter set in the 18th century. “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a biopic that people will really like. This is a pan-India biopic film like Baahubali, though the later was a fictional one. Acting in an epic and a non-fictional film is a big challenge for actors as they need to research extensively about the characters they are playing before stepping into their shoes,” said Tammannah in an interview to the PTI.

In Sye Raa, she will be playing the role of Thamizh. The actor was impressed with the characterization so much that she immediately agreed to join the star cast. Incidentally, the film’s star cast is highly remarkable with Chiranjeevi as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, Amitabh Bachchan as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy's guru, Nayanthara as Raajakumaari Nayana Devi / Subbamma, Sudeep as Avuku Raja and Vijay Sethupathi as Obbaya. Also playing important roles in the film are Nasser, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Asish Vidyarthi and others.

Directed by Surender Reddy, Sye Raa is being bankrolled by Ram Charan Teja under his home banner Konidela Production Company on a budget of Rs 200 crores. R. Rathnavelu is the cameraman for this film, with A Sreekar Prasad editing it and Amit Trivedi wielding the music baton. It is a trilingual that will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Sye Raa, a biopic on the legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, has mega star Chiranjeevi in the titular role. The film is likely to hit the silver screens for Sankaranthi next year and its shooting is progressing abroad.

Meanwhile, Tammannah recently shot for a retro number in the period flick KGF, which has Yash playing the lead role. According to sources close to the team, Tammannah was roped in for a song as the filmmakers felt that she would be the right choice considering the fact that she is highly popular in the south Indian film circuit. With plans to release KGF in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi besides Kannada, Tammannah is a good choice for the number.
