Sandalwood actor and cricketer Dhruv Sharma passed away on Monday night following a massive cardiac arrest. According to reports, he suffered multiple organ failure as a result of the cardiac arrest, leading to his death.

Dhruv was rushed to the Columbia Asia Hospital in Bengaluru, where he breathed his last.

Living with speech and hearing impairment, Dhruv made his acting debut with the Kannada movie Snehanjali, in which he played the lead role. The film reportedly found a place in record books for casting a speech-and-hearing-impaired actor in the lead.

Dhruv, the son of actor and businessman Suresh Sharma, also represented India at the Deaf Cricket World Cup in 2005 and was a part of the Celebrity Cricket League.

His sudden death has shocked the acting fraternity, with a number of artists expressing their condolences on social media.

Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh tweeted: “Am so heart broken, shaken beyond words. My dearest Dhruv Sharma you will be missed forever brother. Thank you for ur warm hugs & love. RIP.”

Aftab Shivdasani’s tweet read: “Shocked on knowing the passing away of one of the nicest guys around. Will miss u my brother. Be at peace wherever u are. RIP Dhruv Sharma.”

Priyamani wrote on her Twitter handle: “Can't believe it that this gem of a guy is no more! Dhruv Sharma you will be missed terribly! RIP Dhruv!”

Actor Abhinaya tweeted: “My beloved friend Dhruv and co-artiste who passed away today. He left me with painful shock. May his soul rest in peace.”
