The Acer TravelMate P614-51 is the new laptop that Acer has launched within its P6 series of the same model. Acer swears by these laptops being light and durable, targeted at the travelling professionals. The thickness is also kept to the minimum.

The Acer TravelMate P614-51 now launched is a Windows 10 Pro notebook with an all metal casing, keeping its weight to just 1.1kg and thickness to 16.6mm. What’s more, the battery can last to as much as 20 hours. The battery gets charged up to 50% in 45 minutes or even less than that. Imagine going through a complete transcontinental flight without having to worry about your laptop running out of charge.

Coming to the specifications, the Acer TravelMate P614-51 and the other notebooks in the range come with 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processors, up to 24GB DDR4 memory, up to NVIDIA® GeForce® MX250 graphics[iii], and up to 1TB of responsive Gen 3 x4 PCIe SSD. These specs are good enough to be used by small businesses even since you can create presentations, edit large spreadsheets.

The display is 14 inches and full HD with a screen resolution of 1920x1080pixels. The keyboard is full-sized and is backlit. Again, the travelling customer comes into focus. The touchpad is made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™. Acer claims this material is far superior to the traditional mylar material used in making touchpads.

Emphasising the toughness angle is the MIL-STD 810G2, 810F, a set of U.S. military grade standards that this Acer TravelMate P614-51 is built to comply with.

Acer has also built in a lot of security features in the laptops; Windows Hello with the fingerprint reader via the power button, or through the IR webcam for facial ID is one such protection so that the laptop cannot be accessed by a third individual. An integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip delivers hardware-based protection for passwords and encryption keys. There is then the Acer ProShield a suite of security and management tools.

In terms of connectivity too, nothing has been spared, including NFC4 (Near Field Communication) for sharing content or making mobile payments.

On pricing, the company has announced the prices of the Acer TravelMate P614-51 for limited geographies; USA, it will be $1,149.99 onwards; Europe and Middle East €1249 onwards and in China RMB 9,999 onwards.
