Star couple Ambareesh and Sumalatha’s son Abhishek is all set to follow the footsteps of his parents and is getting ready to make his acting debut in the Kannada film industry. His first film will be directed by ace director Chetan Kumar and the pre-production work is happening right now.

According to reports doing the rounds in tinsel town, the filmmakers are planning to title the film Amar. Ambareesh’s real name is Amarnath; in fact, he acted in a 1989 Kannada movie called Hongkongnalli Agent Amar.

However, the final call on the title is yet to be taken and only an official announcement can confirm it. The other titles under consideration are Jalila, Nagarahavu and Tirugubaana, and interestingly all of these are either the titles of Abhishek’s dad’s films or resemble them.

Chetan Kumar, who has hits such as Bahaddur and Bharjari to his credit, is currently working on the screenplay of the film. He is expected to wrap it up soon so that the shooting can begin in March as planned. The film is being bankrolled by Ambareesh’s best friend Sandesh Nagaraj, under the banner Sandesh Productions, and will be out in theatres later this year.

Chetan Kumar’s Bahaddur, which released in 2014, was a big hit that had a 100-day run at the box office. The film starred Dhruva Sarja and Radhika Pandit in the lead roles. His next film, Bharjari, which released last year, was a romantic film that again had Dhruva Sarja as the hero with Rachita Ram and Haripriya playing the female leads.

It may be mentioned here that director Pavan Wadeyar was also in fray to direct Abhishek’s debut venture, but the offer eventually went to Chetan Kumar. So now, Pavan will be moving over to direct Puneeth Rajkumar’s next, which will start rolling from next month onwards.
