Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan's Tamil romantic-drama 96, turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. The film, released on October 4, received widespread appreciation from film buffs, critics and film personalities. With the cash registers filling up, 96 is turning out to be a mega grosser as well. 

A Bengaluru based Tamil writer C Saravanakarthikeyan has written a book that includes a list of articles analyzing the film. The book has been titled as '96-Thanipperum Kadhal'. The title has been inspired by the famous line 'Thanipperum Thunaiye' in the chartbuster 'Kadhale Kadhale' song from the film.

The book was released by the film's director Prem Kumar and according to reports, the film is all set to be remade in Telugu and Kannada.

The Kannada remake is being helmed by director Preetham Gubbi. While actor Bhavana has been roped in to play Trisha's character in the Kannada remake, the same role would be played by Samantha in Telugu. Golden Star Ganesh will be reprising Vijay Sethupathi's role in Kannada and a formal announcement on the Telugu lead pair is yet awaited.

96 is a C Prem Kumar directorial which has been bankrolled by Nandagopal under the Madras Enterprises banner. The film's star cast also includes Varsha Bollamma, Aadithya Baaskar, Gouri G Kishan, Devadarshini, Janagaraj and Bagavathi Perumal. The film had music composed by Govind Menon with N Shanmuga Sundaram cranking the camera and Govindraj editing it.
