A 5-year-old student was sexually abused allegedly at a private school in Bengaluru on Monday.

The KG Halli police have registered a case under Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) based on a complaint filed by the girl's parents on Monday night.

According to the police, the incident came to light when the girl, an LKG student, complained of uneasiness and pain in her private parts, on returning home from school.

She was then taken to a hospital, where the doctors confirmed after a detailed examination, that the child had been sexually abused.

Police Inspector Sirajjudhien told The News Minute that the parents claimed in their complaint that the child was sexually abused in the school premises.

"In the complaint, they have said that the child went to the washroom at 12.30pm, where she was abused. But we have examined the CCTV footage from the school, in which the child is seen attending class till about 1.30 pm. The teacher can also be seen in the class. Five minutes later, the child's mother is seen coming to pick her," the inspector said.

However, the officer said that the investigation will continue.

Meanwhile, after examining the CCTV footage, the private school authorities have dismissed the possibility of such an incident happening in the school premises.

"We have given all details to the police and they are investigating it," a school staffer told The New Indian Express. The staffer also claimed that "some people who could not tolerate the school's growth" were deliberately raising false allegations.
