Going by the industry grapevine, superstar Rajinikanth and director Shankar's highly anticipated magnum opus 2.O's teaser will be launched during the finals of the IPL 2018 which is going to be held on 27th May at 7 PM.

However, there is no official confirmation from the makers yet. It may be recalled that in early March, a rough cut of the 2.O teaser was leaked online. The clip, which was a little over a minute, seemed to have been shot with a mobile phone. Starring Rajnikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, the Rs. 400 crore mega budget flick is currently in the post-production stage.

The film was originally slated for a Deepavali 2017 released. But, it was postponed after the makers claimed that they needed more time to do full justice to the visual effects in the film. As many as eleven VFX studios around the world are working on the film. However, there is no clarity as yet on when the film will be releasing. The film marks the third time collaboration of Shankar and Rajinikanth post-Enthiran and Sivaji.

2.0 will mark the return of Rajinikanth as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti. The film also marks the southern debut of Akshay Kumar, who plays the antagonist. Akshay reportedly plays a scientist who turns into a bird-man after an experiment goes awry. Akshay’s look in the film was highly discussed when audiences got a glimpse a few months ago. Also starring Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles, the film has music by A.R Rahman. The film’s audio was launched in a grand manner last year in Dubai.

The film is bankrolled by A Subhaskaran under his banner Lyca Productions, and has a strong technical crew with Nirav Shah cranking the camera and Anthony editing it. Touted to be Asia’s costliest ventures 2.O will also be simultaneously released in Hindi and Telugu.
