Shankar’s 2.0, the sequel to superstar Rajinikanth’s Enthiran, is the eagerly awaited film for the last two years. After multiple postponements, the makers recently revealed that the high budget science-fiction film will finally release on November 29.
After launching audio last year, the makers are yet to give audiences a glimpse of the film via the teaser. For months now, rumours have made the rounds regarding the release date of the teaser.
According to multiple sources, the makers are planning to attach the teaser with the release of Akshay Kumar’s Gold, slated to hit the screens on August 15. An official confirmation is still awaited, but the team is hopeful that the teaser gets attached to the Akshay starrer as it’s getting a very wide release.
Moreover, 2.0 marks the southern debut of Akshay and the makers felt it’d make sense to attach the teaser of 2.0 with Gold to garner maximum attention. In 2.0, Akshay plays a scientist who turns into a bird-man after an experiment goes awry.
Akshay’s look in the film was highly spoken about when audiences got a glimpse a few months ago. Talking about his role at the recently concluded event in Dubai, Akshay said that it’d take him five hours to get ready to play his character. “It’d take me three and half hours to put on the makeup and another hour and a half to take it off.”
In order to play his role, he said he didn’t have to rehearse much because all he was required to do was follow the instructions of Shankar blindly. 2.0 will mark the return of Rajinikanth as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti. Made on a lavish budget of Rs 450 crore, the film which has music by AR Rahman, will also be simultaneously released in Hindi and Telugu.
