Kochi police on Friday arrested 14 persons in connection with an online sex racket, allegedly being operated from a lodge. A woman from Delhi who is suspected to be the leader of the gang was also arrested, reported PTI.

The police officials said that they had monitored certain websites which facilitated the arrangements of the sex racket.

Following this, the Kochi police conducted a raid on Friday, leading to the arrest of 14 persons. Five women, 4 transgender persons, 3 customers and the lodge manager were arrested by the police.

The police stated that some of the arrested person are from Delhi. The officials have also nabbed alcohol and pistol from the reception area of the lodge.

“We have found alcohol from the reception area of the lodge. We have also found a pistol from the arrested persons,” said ACP of Ernakulam, Laljy K, ACP to the media.

The officer also said that a probe will be initiated to find out whether the pistol has a license.

“We will also investigate the veracity of the pistol found – whether the pistol is licensed or not,” added the officer.

Meanwhile Kochi police also said that strict action will be taken against such immoral activities in the city.

“We will take strict actions against all the arrested persons and they will be produced to the court. Stringent measures will be taken to wipe out such immoral activities from the city. If information is received regarding the same, quick and effective actions will be taken by the officers,” said Laljy.

The investigation is in progress and the arrested persons have been booked for immoral trafficking, the police said.
