In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old boy in Vijayawada succumbed to his injuries and died after the branch of a tree fell on him.

The boy has been identified as Chavala Sri Harsha, a class 8 student, who was studying in a private school in Sayanarayanapuram.

According to reports, Harsha had stepped out on his bicylce to buy milk from a nearby shop in Kommavari Street, and was returning when the incident occurred.

“A eucalyptus tree which was in the Sishu Vidya Mandir School campus got uprooted and the branches fell on Harsha, while he was proceeding on the main road. The locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, but in vain,” a local told The Hindu.

Other reports add that a sharp stalk from the branch that fell, pierced through his throat and pinned him down, which left him unable to shout for help, at 6am in the morning.

By the time locals found him and rushed him to the hospital, he was declared brought dead.

The Hindu report added that Vijayawada Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang expressed his condolences to Harsha's family, who have decided to donate his eyes.

The local police at Satyanarayanapuram have registered a case.

This incident had occurred even as CCTV footage of another accident from Andhra did the rounds on social media.

Yanadi Rao, also 12 years old, died in Chirala in Prakasam district, as he tried to cross the road, and was hit by a speeding car at Vadarevu Junction.

The video showed the boy emerging from behind another vehicle, and running across the road, leaving no time for the oncoming driver to react. 

Reports add that the police shifted the boy's body to the Chirala Government Hospital, and took the driver of the car into custody after registering a case.
