The Nampally sessions court in Hyderabad gave a clean chit to Tollywood actress Swetha Basu Prasad on Saturday after she was arrested on September 3 for an alleged prostitution case during a decoy operation by the Task Force in a star hotel in the city.

Shweta was taken into custody on charges of prostitution and later sent to rescue home "Prajwal", run by prominent social activist, Sunita Krishnan.

The actor however, said that she had gone to the hotel to attend a programme. Shweta's lawyer said in a statement that the court ordered to let her free without any charges as there was no substantial evidence to support the allegations against her

The actress told the court that she was not involved in any prostitution and her name was deliberately listed in the FIR by the police.

Swetha, who shot to fame and bagged a national award for best child artist for her performance in “makdee” in 2002 has also acted in Bengali, Tamil and Telugu films.

Shweta, who was seen as a victim of circumstances, has also received tremendous support from the film industry.
