Narsaraopet Member of Parliament (MP) from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Lavu Krishna Devarayalu on Thursday, May 29, stated that the aim of the all-party delegation travelling to various foreign nations is to explain how Indian military offensives like ‘Operation Sindoor’ are the new normal.

Part of an Indian all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule, the TDP MP from Andhra Pradesh is currently in Ethiopia. The delegation had met with Ethiopia’s Deputy PM and Deputy Chairperson of Prosperity Party Adem Farah.

Speaking to TNM, MP Krishna Devarayalu stated that the foreign nations understand that India is not a war-mongering nation. "The aim of these delegations is to explain why we had to initiate Operation Sindoor to attack terrorist camps in Pakistan and that this is going to be our response going forward if there is a terrorist attack in India. This is the new normal that people should accept because until now we have only maintained deterrence," he said.

The MP told TNM that leaders in both Qatar and South Africa did suggest solving the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan diplomatically.

"We clarified that we have tried diplomacy for many years and it is not working out. If it is a civilian government, it might have worked. But in the last 70 years or so, there is no civilian government which has completed five years in Pakistan. So there is no one to talk to,” he added.

The delegation also called on former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn who had visited India for the third India-Africa Forum Summit in October 2015. The Indian Embassy in Ethiopia issued a statement noting Hailemariam’s condolences for the Pahalgam attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed by terrorists.

The Sule led delegation has already visited the countries of Qatar and South Africa. Post their trip to Ethiopia, the Parliamentarians will travel to Egypt.
