Yet another accused has been arrested in the custodial death case of Gade Sai Krishna in Vijayawada. After absconding for nearly three months, the accused Suresh reportedly surrendered before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Sai Krishna’s custodial torture and death case on Thursday, September 17.
A resident of Vijayawada’s Satyanarayanapuram, Suresh was allegedly handling financial transactions for Circle Inspector (CI) SSVV Nagaraju, the main accused in the case. Suresh was named accused no. 4 in Sai Krishna’s case.
The SIT had already arrested CI Nagaraju, four constables, a home guard of the Krishnalanka police station and a medical practitioner in the alleged custodial torture and murder case.
Gade Sai Krishna was picked up on May 6 by the Krishnalanka police from Markapuram, a town nearly 300 km from Vijayawada. A 25-year-old with a criminal record, Sai Krishna is alleged to have been tortured and murdered by Krishnalanka CI Nagaraju.
On a complaint by Sai Krishna’s mother Gade Vijaya Lakshmi, a case of wrongful confinement, murder and causing disappearance of evidence was registered against CI Nagaraju in June 2026.
Sai Krishna, who dropped out of school after class 9, was working for a food delivery app in Markapuram. A rowdy sheeter with nearly 20 criminal cases registered against him, Sai Krishna’s case gained widespread attention following accusations that his body was cremated in secret by Krishnalanka police. No trace of his body has been found yet.
