Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila accused former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of behaving like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “foster son”.

Addressing a press conference, she accused Jagan, who is also the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president, of supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) despite the fact that their father and former CM YS Rajashekar Reddy (YSR) had opposed them.

“For five years, Jagan surrendered to the BJP and supported every bill introduced by the Union government,” Sharmila said, adding, “The BJP stands for Babu, Jagan and Pawan.” “Babu” is a reference to present AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.

Responding to YSRCP leader Roja Selvamani’s allegations that Sharmila was backing Naidu, Sharmila responded that as YSR’s daughter, she “never felt a need to support Naidu.”

“During a tough spell in Jagan’s life, I undertook a 3200 km long padayatra. I neglected my husband and children and supported him,” Sharmila said. She also said that the downfall of the YSRCP started when her mother YS Vijayamma was removed from the party.
