The News Minute| November 1, 2014| 9.00 am ISTThe Krishna River Management Board on Friday took a decision on the Srisailam issue and restricted the Telangana government from using water beyond November 2 for power generation. This decision comes highly in favour of Andhra which insisted that the water level in the Srisailam dam should not go below 854 ft thereby dismissing the argument of the Telangana government which said it could go until 834 ft.Soon after the decision of the board, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met with irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, Irrigation adviser R. Vidyasagar Rao and other officials at the Secretariat in Hyderabad.According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, the irrigation minister of Telangana, Harish Rao claimed that the KRMB decision to restrict Telangana on power generation from Srisailam was unilateral. “The KRMB has no jurisdiction over allocation of waters, it cannot restrict the state, it acted in a most biased way ostensibly due to the political pressure by the AP government,” he addedThe Chief Minister immediately sent a dissent note to the board and explored options to fight the board’s decision in a court of law.
