The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mangalagiri will receive an additional 10 acres of land from the Andhra Pradesh government, announced Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, December 17. This announcement came during the institution's first convocation ceremony, held in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest.

The initial allotment of 183 acres for the AIIMS campus in Mangalagiri was lauded by Naidu as unmatched by any other AIIMS in the country. He highlighted the swift completion of the project, which took only six years from its foundation laying in 2018 to its inauguration with a budget of Rs 1,618 crore.

Responding to requests from AIIMS officials, Naidu promised the allocation of the additional 10 acres soon. He expressed his satisfaction with the institute's progress, noting its achievement of national recognition in such a short time. Currently, AIIMS Mangalagiri holds the eighth rank among AIIMS institutions nationwide.

During his address, Naidu emphasized the government's commitment to providing advanced facilities at the institute. He praised AIIMS for its affordable medical services, with consultations available for as low as Rs 10, and expressed hope that it would soon reach the top rank nationally.

Naidu also took the opportunity to commend President Murmu's inspiring journey, from her humble beginnings in a tribal village in Odisha to her position as the first citizen of India. He lauded her achievements as a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. Naidu highlighted that Droupadi Murmu rose from a tribal family in a remote Odisha village to reach this pinnacle. Her growth inspires everyone in the country. "The President of India, who began her career as a teacher later became a professor, a junior assistant, councillor, chairperson, MLA, minister in the Cabinet of her home State and later as governor to finally assume the highest position in the country as the first citizen of the nation,” Chandrababu Naidu said. He said that President Murmu has proven that anyone can achieve a goal with hard work.
