The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on October 7 adopted a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 continuous years in public office as the head of a government. Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, a post in which he continued till 2014, when he became the PM.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is on a two-day visit to Delhi from October 7, where he is scheduled to meet PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other Union Ministers. The visit comes amid heightened protests by the Opposition, student outfits, and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
CM Naidu plans to seek assistance from the Union government for various projects such as approval for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail and Beach Corridor, and special financial assistance in view of the drought-like conditions due to the impact of El Niño. He is also expected to seek the Union government’s support to conduct the Godavari Pushkaralu river festival next year, and river-linking initiatives in the state.
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy spoke about the resolution marking PM Modi’s 25 years in office and said that the Chief Minister and all the Ministers present expressed their respect for PM Modi and “how he has brought reforms in governance, how he grew from the lowest level to the Prime Minister, and his discipline, integrity, commitment, and determination to take the country to great heights.”
Parthasarathy also said that CM Naidu instructed all the Ministers not to limit the resolution to a document, but examine it carefully and consider “how to emulate PM Modi’s great traits, how we can evolve and take the state and our districts forward.”
Congratulating PM Modi on the occasion in an X post, CM Naidu said India was “fortunate to have the right leader, at the right time, in the right place.”
