The News Minute | July 8, 2014 | 05:47 pm IST DC Entertainment, the company that owns Superman among other popular superheroes, allegedly objected and refused to grant permission to use the ‘S’ of the Superman logo on the memorial of a murdered boy.Jeffry Baldwin, a 5-year-old Canadian boy, was starved to death by his grandparents in 2002.Baldwin’s story traveled to far off places. Todd Boyce, a government IT professional in Ottowa, was so touched by his ordeal that he decided to get a statue build in Baldwin's honour. Jeffry, in his memorial, would be dressed in a Superman costume with the S of the Superman logo on his chest.Baldwin loved Superman and would love to dress up as his favourite superhero, states a report in CBC.However, DC Entertainment did not grant permission to Boyce for the use of that logo.Boyce told CBC, "Basically they didn't want to have the character of Superman associated with child abuse. They weren't comfortable with that."He further added, "(I) realized that the most important thing is to have a fitting monument for Jeffrey, that it's about him," Boyce said. "To be fair to DC I don't think they wanted to say no. I think they gave it serious thought."Baldwin’s statue, that is likely to be unveiled in September, will have the S replaced by a J, reports TIME.Jeffery’s grandparents were convicted of second degree murder in 2006.Post by Todd Boyce.
