Bajrang Dal activists vandalise church in UP; two arested

Biswajeet Banerjee | July 17, 2014 | 6:20 PM IST Two persons were arrested after Bajrang Dal activists vandalized a church and attacked a family staying in the compound in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, police said here todaySuperintendent of Police (City) Rajesh Kumar said that Father of the church Jaipal has lodged a complaint against two dozen Bajrang Dal activists attacked him and his family members last night alleging they were involved in conversion.The Bajranj Dal activists were led by its district convener Hemant. They also ransacked the church.Hemant and his associate Yogendra have been arrested but a gram pradhan Rajiv Agrawal, who was also among the attackers was absconding.Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a demonstration at the residence of the SSP alleging that the police was harassing the innocent.Meanwhile District Magistrate Nidhi Keserwani said that the arrested people were involved in the attack and no one would be allowed to take law in their hands.
