AIADMK-BJP கூட்டணி ஆட்சி: Amit Shah திட்டவட்டம் | Tamil Nadu politics | Shabbir Ahmed
As Tamil Nadu heads towards the crucial 2026 Assembly elections, political parties are busy chalking out their strategies. While the ruling DMK has set an ambitious target of winning 200 seats and is actively conducting grassroots-level meetings, the opposition bloc led by the AIADMK is yet to gain momentum.
The AIADMK initially believed that an alliance with the BJP would provide the much-needed boost to challenge the formidable DMK. However, the partnership has failed to take off or capture the imagination of the electorate.
What’s made matters worse are the strategic missteps the AIADMK has made after aligning with the BJP, raising concerns about the party losing its individual identity. AIADMK leaders are increasingly seen participating in events organised by the Hindu Munnani and RSS—something that has not gone unnoticed by the party’s cadre.
While the AIADMK continues to assert that it will form the government on its own, the BJP has been pushing for a share in power. This demand has not gone down well with many AIADMK workers, further fuelling discontent within the party.
In this week’s Yen Endra Kelvi, Shabbir Ahmed examines how the RSS, BJP, and other right-wing groups are attempting to reshape the identity and direction of the AIADMK.
