Telangana Whistleblower’s murder sparks outrage, Family blames KCR
The murder of activist Rajalinga Murthy, who had filed complaints against former Telangana Chief Minister KCR and his nephew, Harish Rao, in connection with the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KILS) in Telangana’s Jayashankar Bhupalpally, has raised serious concerns about the safety of whistleblowers in the country.
Once a staunch supporter of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), Rajalinga Murthy turned against the party leadership after suspecting large-scale corruption in the Kaleshwaram Project.
Following the collapse of the Medigadda Barrage in October 2023, he publicly accused then-CM KCR, former Irrigation Minister Harish Rao, and top Telangana government officials of corruption.
On February 19, 2025, just hours before the Kaleshwaram Project case was scheduled for a hearing in the Telangana High Court, Rajalinga Murthy was murdered. His killing has sparked outrage, with his family directly accusing KCR and the BRS of silencing him.
