Nearly a year later, the POCSO case against Gem Granites Veeramani, which the police had sought to close the investigation, had taken a very different turn.
The reinvestigation led to the recovery of the original visuals of the alleged sexual assault and the arrest of Gem Granites founder R Veeramani, along with his associates Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan.
The survivor has since been identified and her statement recorded before a Judicial Magistrate. Police are also investigating allegations involving other minor girls and multiple locations in Chennai, while forensic examination of seized devices is underway.
