The renewed investigation in the Veeramani POCSO case eventually led to his arrest. According to the police, the case was formally registered only in October 2025, after a pen drive containing a video showing a minor being sexually assaulted was handed over to the Anti-Vice Squad by a child rights NGO.
However, in February 2026, the police filed a report seeking to drop further action, citing difficulties including identifying the girl in the video. But the NGO says it repeatedly followed up with the police after reporting the incident, but was told that the complaint was “in process”.
