Brahmin Tantris in Kerala boycott a temple over an OBC garland maker

When KS Anurag, an Ezhava classified as OBC in Kerala, was appointed as Kazhakam staff at the Koodalmanikyam temple through a government rank list, it triggered an unprecedented response. Five of the six tantri families, who are custodians of the temple’s ritual practices and Vedic traditions, have since stayed away from the shrine. Only one Tantri family chose to continue.
