A Rapido bike taxi ride in Bengaluru left Sani Krishna with nine broken ribs, multiple surgeries and medical bills exceeding ₹20 lakh. She says she has not received any compensation from the company so far.

Sani alleges the rider tried to overtake a tractor before the bike skidded, throwing her into its path. She also says her attempts to seek help from Rapido went unanswered until she spoke publicly about the accident.

Now, as she prepares to approach the consumer court, her case raises a larger question: when a passenger is seriously injured during an app-based ride, who is responsible?
