The News Minute | December 3, 2014 | 11.40 am ISTThe song Jaya Jaya He Telangana which had come to prominence during the Telangana statehood fight was supposed to be declared as the state’s official song. Five months have passed, but an official decision on it has still not been taken.Composed by poet Dr. Ande Sri, the song was to replace Ma Telugu Talliki, the state song of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. The government, however, seems to be in some ambiguity. The original song expressed the desire of having a separate state of Telangana and the song had to be edited later after the demand was met, Deccan Chronicle reported. The song further talks about the state of Telangana having ten districts. The Chief Minister has plans to increase it to twenty four. When a question about the delay was put forth in the Council, Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy replied that the matter was under consideration of the government. Further delay in making a decision will make it impossible for next academic year’s text books to have this song printed as the state’s official song, Council’s TRS member Paturi Sudhakar Reddy said.
