The News Minute | November 11, 2014 | 1:00 pm ISTPrajwala, a rescue home for sex workers saw various cases booked against 21 people on account of vandalism in Hyderabad on Tuesday.The accused were arrested after they went on a rampage, destroying furniture and apparently trying to strangle an employee.According to a report in the Times of India, The traffickers instigated around 100 others to indulge in vandalism on November 4. Many staff members were injured. The rescue home which is managed by anti trafficking expert Sunita Krishnan, claimed that the persons against whom the cases were booked were not “rescued” victims.The management alleged that the individuals were actually women traffickers who tried to lure the victims from the home back to their old profession by claiming that they would make more money.In a media interaction from the Prajwala headquarters, Sunita Krishnan said that the incident highlighted the need for proper guidelines which would ensure that only genuine victims are admitted in rescue homes. “Women are sent to our home in Mahbubnagar only on the orders of the special court. Similarly, they are released only on the order of the magistrate”, she said.Krishnan emphasized on the need for strict guidelines and also said that a list of recommendations was sent to city police commissioner Mahender Reddy.
