Two men were arrested on Tuesday by the Cyberabad Police in connection with a case of robbery, kidnap and gang rape of a minor girl at Kokapet in Hyderabad, 10 days ago.

On the intervening night of May 13 and May 14, Babloo Paul and Arun Sharma, who originally hail from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, went to a residential complex and gained entry into a house and committed theft of a laptop and three cell phones.

While they were escaping from the house, the girl woke up and noticed the accused duo, following which one of them gagged her mouth with his hands, slapped her and threatened her at knife point, according to police.

"They forcibly took her out of the house to an isolated place and allegedly committed sexual assault on her. The minor girl escaped from their clutches and went to security post and informed the matter," a release from Cyberabad Police stated.

The duo had come to Hyderabad from Kanpur on May 11 to eke out a living by doing labour work and after all the money they brought got spent, they decided to commit property offence, as per the release.

They were arrested by Narsingi police and the stolen property was recovered from them.
