The News Minute | November 6, 2014 | 8:35 am ISTThe TV9 Telugu news channel resumed broadcasting in Hyderabad yesterday after an order from the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) which came last week.Breaking a 144 day ban, Multi System Operators (MSOs) like Hathway and In-Digital resumed the broadcast of TV9 while other MSOs like Digi, City Vision and RVR have not yet implemented the TDSAT’s order. Multi System Operators stopped airing the channel since June this year after the channel telecast two programmes, both satires on the Telangana legislators and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao had applauded the MSOs for banning the two news channels, stating that they had no right to air programmes that insulted Telangana culture as well as showing Telangana legislators in poor light. Another channel ABN Andhra Jyoti was also banned. The ban is still in place in all other districts of Telangana with Hyderabad being the exception.ABN Andhra Jyoti on the other hand is still banned by MSOs all over the state even despite the journalists protesting outside the venue of the Telangana assembly sessions on Thursday.
