Citizens in Hyderabad who ventured out on Tuesday bore the brunt of a hot and humid day as the temperature in the city cross 40 degree Celsius, even as a thunderstorm warning was issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) said that areas like Secunderabad, Ameerpet, Musheerabad, Patancheruvu and Bahadurpura witnessed the weather rising to 40.3 degrees Celsius.
Temperature in other areas across the city continued to hover between 35 and 40 degree Celsius.
The entire state felt the heat as even other parts of Telangana witnessed hot weather on Tuesday.
While Adilabad and Badrachalam recorded 41 degree Celsius, Ramagundam and Mahbubnagar witnessed the temperature rise to 40 degrees. While Medak and Nizamabad recorded 39 degrees, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Hanmakonda recorded 38 degrees, DC reported.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a two-day thunderstorm warning.
"Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Medak, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Wanaparty, Nagarkurnool and Rangareddy of Telangana," the warning states.
It also said that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at isolated places for the rest of the week.
Earlier this month, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms which lashed the city brought Hyderabad to a standstill. Many trees were uprooted and there were power disruptions reported at several places.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) later said that 69 trees had been uprooted, out of which 24 trees were uprooted in the North Zone, 14 in the West Zone, 21 in the Central and 10 in South Zone.
The city recorded the maximum rainfall of 52.5mm (5cm) in Khairtabad followed by Nampally at 38.5mm (3cm).
Hailstorms were also reported in parts of Secunderabad like Trimulgherry, Yapral and Bowenpally
The IMD scientists stated that the reason for the unseasonal rainfall was cumulonimbus clouds.
