A case has been booked against actor Allu Arjun, his security team and the management of Sandhya 70 mm theatre in Hyderabad, following the death of a 35-year-old woman in a stampede during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. The stampede, which took place on Thursday, December 5, was triggered by the Telugu star’s sudden visit to the theatre.

The deceased woman was identified as Revathi, a resident of Dilshuknagar.

“An FIR was registered after Revathi’s husband Bhaskar complained to the Chikadapally police station,” Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshash Yadav told the media. Bhaskar’s 8-year-old son, who was injured in the stampede, has been admitted to KIMS hospital and is in critical condition.

The DCP clarified that all three parties who have been booked were named by Bhaskar in his complaint. “Further investigation is underway,” the DCP added.

“The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd. Nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actors’ team despite the theatre management having information about their arrival,” he added.

The accused have been booked under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 108 (voluntarily causing hurt) read with Section 3 clause 5 (acts done by several in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
