The Rachakonda police in Telangana arrested a 24-year-old man on Tuesday from Warangal for allegedly harassing a woman constable by sending her abusive messages, and uploading her contact number on a porn website.

It was all began after Biram Nikhil Kumar, who hails from Warangal, was named as an accused in a harassment case, which was filed by a Hyderabad student.

In October 2016, a student had approached the Rachakonda police, stating that she had been receiving abusive messages from Nikhil.

The case was later assigned to Ibrahimpatnam SHE Team in-charge ASI Narsimha, as the girl had asked the police to resolve the matter, instead of booking an FIR, The New Indian Express reported.

Following this, a woman constable from the Ibrahimpatnam SHE team was asked to look after the case, and called up the accused.

Nikhil reportedly denied the allegations and behaved rudely with the police. Following this, he began sending abusive messages to the police officer.

According to SHE team ACP Snehitha, around one month ago, Nikhil went to the extent of uploading the woman’s contact number on a porn website, leading to several calls from strangers. This left the woman constable traumatised, and she filed a police complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Rachakonda SHE team booked a case under several sections of the IPC, including section 354(D) (Stalking), 419 (Punishment for cheating by impersonation),  420 (cheating), 471 (Using as genuine, a forged document or electronic record), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 66(c) of the IT Act, TOI reported

The police said that they had arrested the accused in Warangal, after tracking his phone.

The TOI report added that the interrogation following his arrest revealed that Nikhil had harassed three more women in the same manner. The accused also procured the sim card by using fake documents.
