Telangana launches dedicated healthcare app

The News Minute | December 22, 2014 | 9:25 pm ISTThe Telangana government Monday launched a dedicated healthcare app in a move to empower citizens with convenient access to healthcare.The app for the ministry of health and family welfare is powered by Mahindra Comviva, a subsidiary of Tech Mahindra and the global leader in providing mobility solutions.The application was conceptualized by the Healthcare Innovation Cell (HIC) of the state health ministry. This is the first dedicated app for any ministry of health and family welfare in India and is positioned to bring a paradigm shift in the healthcare industry by making health care facilities more accessible, said a statement.There are more than 800 government healthcare centers in the cities listed by the app. Currently available for Android users, the application will be available in both Telugu and English and can be downloaded for free through the Google play store.The app will help the ministry to facilitate access to its initiatives, provide public health information, locate health centres and also empower the citizens to track and record their health data through the health tools."The government believes in the best use of technology to enable the delivery of healthcare services to all in need," said Deputy Chief Minister Rajaiah Thatikonda, who also has the portfolio of health.IANS
