Written by : TNM

Telangana on Tuesday inked an agreement to purchase 1,000 MW of electricity from neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed by the officials of the two states here in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The two states in November last year had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the issue.

As a follow-up to the MoU, the PPA was signed which will remain in force for 12 years.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, a transmission line is being laid to purchase the power from the neighboring state.

Chandrasekhar Rao has requested his counterpart Raman Singh to supply an additional 1,000 MW. Rama Singh has responded positively to this request, it said.
