Telangana govt signs MoU with Physics Wallah, other ed-tech companies

The Telangana education department on Sunday, June 15 signed a Memorandums of Understanding with six organisations. The state government has partnered with education technology companies like Nandan Nilekani’s EkStep foundation, Physics Wallah, Khan Academy, Pi Jam Foundation and NGOs like Prajwala Foundation and Educate Girls.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the partnership reflects the Congress led government’s commitment to ensure that ‘no child is left behind in this digital age.’

The EkStep Foundation will offer educational services in more than 5,000 primary schools in 33 districts in Telugu and English languages as well as ensure basic mathematics is taught from class 3 to 5.

Physics Wallah will provide coaching to inter students for NEET, JEE and CLAT exams and provide free training to students from school level for competitive exams.

Khan Academy will be offering video-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) training in accordance with the curriculum to students from class 6 to 10th standard in the state while the Pi Jam Foundation will provide training in coding and computational thinking to students from class 1 to class 10.

Prajwala Foundation, which rescues and rehabilitates girls and women from human trafficking, will be launching child safety and protection programmes for students from class 6 to class 12 across the state. Educate Girls will take up the enrollment of over 16,000 out-of-school children to improve literacy and educational opportunities for girls.
