Telangana Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud’s son and his associates have been booked for beating up a footpath vendor at Pot Market in Hyderabad.

The incident took place on Monday, when Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other department officials were carrying out a special encroachment drive there.

The complainant, Mohit Rathore, who has a pickle shop in the area, had a tiff with other shop vendors while the drive was being carried out.

“One person name Arvind Rathore, who had a shop near Mohit’s shop had a fight with him. Arvind is on good terms with the minister’s son, so he decided to call him for help. Soon, Rameshwar Goud reached the place and beat Mohit’s uncle Satyanarayana, while others beat Mohit and his father,” said M Mattaiah, Inspector of Market Police Station.

Police also mentioned that Goud threatened the family.

One of the persons who were attacking reportedly even threw stones at Mohit’s shop and abused him.

“A case has been registered against six people, including excise minister’s son Rameshwar and Arvind under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. We are still investigating this case,” the Inspector added.
