A 26 year-old Dalit who had immolated himself on September 3, at the office of TRS MLA Rasmayi Balakishan, died on Sunday.

The deceased, M Srinivas, had alleged that the Village Revenue Officer had asked him Rs 20,000 for giving a three-acre land according to an SC/ST scheme. The victim along with another person Parashuramulu, approached the MLA, who represents Manukondur constituency.

However, the MLA didn’t listen to their pleas.

Anguished by it, both the victims doused themselves with petrol and immolated themselves, reported The Times of India

While Srinivas succumbed to grievous injuries, Parashuramulu is expected to be discharged from the hospital, the report said.

Fearing protest and outrage, security at the office of the TRS MLA, Balakishan, has been beefed up.

Srinivas was a resident of Guden village in Bejanki mandal, Karimnagar.

Meanwhile, the TRS MLA said that the government will take care of the hospital expenses of the victims.

He further said that the deceased’s mother was given one-acre and 10 guntas of land.
