Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, October 21, announced an increase in ex-gratia payments for families of police personnel killed in the line of duty.

Speaking at the Police Martyrs Memorial in Goshamahal, CM Revanth directed Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand to increase the ex-gratia payment for the families of Home Guards from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

The ex-gratia amount for families of Superintendents of Police (SPs) and IPS officers was increased from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore, while the ex-gratia amount for families of head constables and Additional SPs will be between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.5 crore, compared with the Rs 45 lakh they received earlier.

“The increase was not merely financial assistance but is a marker of respect for the families of the martyrs,” CM Revanth said. He also announced that all vacant posts in the state police department would be filled by 2028.

Revanth also spoke of the induction of 112 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) as an unprecedented initiative in the history of the state, marking the single largest batch of direct-recruit DSPs to join the Telangana police.

Speaking about TG SAFE, Revanth remarked that it was established to take a firm stance against food adulteration, while 'Spandana' – a set of 'Immediate Protection Teams' – was another initiative enforced to provide instant safeguarding for women and children during emergencies.
