The kidnapping case of a 14-year-old boy in Medchal, who was studying in Class 8, reached its conclusion on Saturday evening, after the police tracked him down successfully. 

The boy, identified as Y Manidhar, was kidnapped by some unidentified people who called his parents later, and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.

Manidhar's father, Y. Girbabu, was reported to be a businessman who had returned from the Gulf.

The Deccan Chronicle reported that the boy was on his way to school on his bicycle on Saturday morning, when the kidnappers intercepted him near Kistapur canal in Medchal and took him away in a car. 

A few hours later, they called his father and said that they would kill the child, if he did not pay Rs 10 lakh as ransom.

The distressed parents lodged a complaint with the Medchal police, following which the call records of the phone were traced.

The Times of India reported that Cyberabad police commissioner Sandeep Shandilya directed in-charge deputy commissioner of police (Balanagar) Janaki Sharmila to form special teams to rescue the kidnapped boy.

As the police were looking for the child, they received information from locals of Pudur village, that they spotted the kidnappers and the boy in the area, the DC report adds.

The police rushed to the spot, to find the boy abandoned, and the kidnappers absconding. 

The TOI report adds that the police suspect the role of one Narender, who was a business partner of the boy's father.

However, no arrests were made in the case so far.

A case has been registered under 364 A (Whoever kidnaps or abducts any person or keeps a person in detention after such kidnapping or abduction and threatens) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
