Police in Hyderabad arrested seven juveniles on Thursday after a videoshowing them burning three puppies emerged earlier in the week.

In the video, the boys were seen tying the puppies, piling twigs and hay to create a pyre. They then proceed to set it ablaze while the puppies howl and cry in pain. Even as the puppies try to escape from the flames, the boys use sticks to force them back into the blaze.

Speaking to TNM on Wednesday, Ravi Kumar Reddy, SI of Musheerabad PS said a case was booked under IPC 429 section 11 (1) a, 1 (L), Protection of Cruelty to Animals Act after receiving a complaint.

The incident reportedly took place in a graveyard while the footage was obtained from the owner of a fish stall, police said.

These incidents come close to the heels after an infamous video of two medical students from Chennai throwing a dog from the rooftop of a building made headlines across the country. While the dog was found alive, the two students were arrested and released on bail.
