Days after Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President G Vivekanand and its Secretary T Shesh Narayan were disqualified and asked to step down, the duo have approached the Hyderabad High Court, challenging the order of the Ombudsman.

Vivekanand was disqualified after several complaints of conflict of interest, as he also happens to hold the rank of a cabinet minister in Telangana, as an advisor to the state government.

"A clear 'conflict of interest' exists vis-a-vis Sri G Vivekanand, the president of HCA, on account of a commercial contract between Visakha Industries, of which he is a Director He also stands disqualified from holding the office of president of the HCA, on account of his appointment as an Advisor to Government. Sri T Shesh Narayan stands disqualified on account of his figuring as an accused in the charge-sheets. The HCA shall take steps to hold the elections for the office of president and secretary in accordance with the relevant provisions of law," the order had stated.

Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin was also made a respondent in the case which will come up for hearing, as he had fought a long and contentious battle, claiming that Vivekanand's election was illegal.

Azhar had said that Vivekanand could not continue on the post as all office bearers have to resign following the adoption of the Lodha Committee's recommendations and fresh elections have to be conducted.

Azhar, who was elected to Lok Sabha from Moradabad in 2009, alleged that Viekanand through his conduct was violating all rules. He contended that Vivekanand can't hold the post in the HCA as he enjoyed the rank of a cabinet minister in Telangana.

The former player also wondered how Vivekanand can hold Telangana Premier League in the name of his late father G. Venkatswamy under the aegis of HCA, terming it as conflict of interest.

Azhar had earlier written to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take action against HCA which is "totally illegal".
