An engineering student, arrested last year for collecting photographs of around 200 girls after befriending them online through fake Facebook accounts and trying to extort money from them, has been arrested again for a similar offence.

Cyber crime cell of Hyderabad police on Saturday arrested Abdul Majid, a third-year BTech student, a police release said.

Majid allegedly sent abusive or obscene and threatening messages through Facebook and blackmailed many young girls into sending him their nude photos, police said.

"Posing as a teenage girl, Majid created fake profiles on Facebook and chatted with young girls and then threatened them that he would share their personal information with their friends," police said.

After the Cyberabad police arrested him on earlier occasion last September, he had got bail.

Police also seized two mobile phones from him.
