In a shocking incident, a two-day old baby was kidnapped by an unidentified woman on Sunday from Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad.
According to reports, the mother, N Nirmala delivered a baby boy in Petlaburj Maternity Hospital in Hyderabad on Friday. The doctors told Nirmala that the baby needs to be shifted to Niloufer Hospital, as the baby was unwell. Following this, Nirmala’s mother Kalpana brought the baby to Niloufer hospital along with another woman whom she befriended at the Petlaburj hospital.
The suspected kidnapper, who identified herself as Manjula, helped Kalpana in the hospital and convinced her that she’s a reliable person. However, after the baby was treated, while they were leaving the hospital, Manjula allegedly tricked Kalpana to kidnap the baby. She held the child while she asked Kalpana to get her some tea, and by the time Kalapana returned, Manjula and the child were missing.
Speaking to TNM, Nampally Sub Inspector PV Ram Prasad said, “The suspect has been following Nirmala since her delivery at the Petlaburj hospital. She introduced herself as a nurse working in the hospital. When the baby was brought to Niloufer, she came along with Kalpana since no one else was there to accompany her. The kidnapper volunteered herself. After earning the confidence of Kalpana, she kidnapped the baby.”
Ram Prasad added that they have examined the visuals of the CCTV footage recorded outside the hospital and started the investigation.

Inspector R Sanjay Kumar said, “We are in the process of investigation. We will nab the accused as soon as possible.”
Police have booked a case under section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) against the woman.
Meanwhile, relatives of the victim protested outside the Petlaburj Maternity Hospital. They alleged that the incident took place because of the negligence of the Petlaburj hospital management. They claimed that the hospital doesn’t have proper security, and further alleged that the kidnapper and the hospital employees were hand-in-glove in the crime.
