Heavy showers are expected to continue across Telangana and Hyderabad with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a two-day warning for 'heavy rain'.

“Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana on Saturday and Sunday," the IMD warned.

The Times of India reported that 25% of Telangana's landmass is predicted to receive over 7cm of rainfall during this period.

“Most of Hyderabad would receive rain, but there would be a few areas which would receive excess rainfall, anywhere between 70mm and 120mm. This activity, however, will pause by June 20, but after that there are chances that the monsoon might only strengthen even further," Y K Reddy , director (in-charge), IMD Hyderabad, told TOI.

Skymet Weather reported that Hyderabad had already surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 111.2 mm, as of June 14, with the state capital registering rainfall of 132 mm. 

Other reports added that 400 mandals out of 584 mandals in the state, received excess rainfall, while 99 mandals received normal rainfall and 62 mandals received less rainfall than predicted. 23 mandals received very little rain fall up to June 15.

The IMD also said that a cyclonic circulation prevailing over south-west Bangladesh and coastal Odisha, combined with a trough extending from Chhattisgarh to South Tamil Nadu, had resulted in the heavy rain in some parts of the state.

The trough also covered several parts of Telangana and Andhra's Rayalaseema region.

Meanwhile, weathermen also predicted heavy rains for across coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. 

According to reports, the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) at Visakhapatnam predicted strong surface winds from the south-west, with speeds reaching 45-55 kmph till Saturday evening.
